...............Updates..............
In August, September, and October we met many lovely people interested in Uganda, and impressed by the Ugandan crafts, at the Flea Market on rte 9J just North of Rte 66 in Ghent NY. Although this Flea Market has closed for the winter, we are looking forward to setting up under our pop-up in the Spring/Summer of 2010.

The Ghent Reformed Church Fair was a festive and fun event. Suzanne was able to share our new shiny paper new bookmarks! Many Thanks to Eve who worked with us to create bookmarks with photos and stories of the women we purchase beads from, and explanations of the Ugandan crafts on the back.

A Special Event in support of Bavubaka's Passion Project
Party for Uganda joined with Mushana and several other crafters for Freedom Under the Sun at Caddi Shack in Riverdale NJ on November 3rd where women gathered honoring the women and girls of Uganda, raised awareness with praise, testimony and a gift of hope to an impoverished community of girls in Uganda.
Here's a bit about the great work Bavubaka's Passion Project is doing in Uganda:
Bavubuka is all about empowering young Ugandan people through the music and the arts...Passion Foundation is all about providing life skills and social development programming for young women... The Bavubuka Passion Project is all about going from one community to the next sharing resources, leadership training tools, and empowering young women in Kampala,Gulu, and Nairobi to take a stand in a positive way.
Together we are creating an opportunity for young women to not only build positive relationship with themselves but to use their new found power to uplift and guide their communities. We will be working with 100 young women in Kampala, Gulu and Nairobi as they navigate their self-growth and tap into what is needed in their communities. This is a collaborative effort and our intent is to leave each group with an action plan that will create a positive and sustainable change in their communities. Past experience tells us that the young women who’s lives we will touch will go on to touch many more and so the ripple of positive change and human empowerment will continue.
